Plausible — Analytics Without the Privacy Baggage

Plausible is a privacy-first web analytics platform. No cookies, no consent banners, no personal data collection. Under 1KB of JavaScript. It gives you the traffic insights you actually need without the GDPR headaches that come with Google Analytics. We run it for our own sites and for clients who want clean data without compromises.

How We Use It

Every site we operate — including the one you're reading right now — uses our self-hosted Plausible instance. We track page views, referrers, countries, and device types without dropping a single cookie.

Custom events track what matters: form submissions, demo requests, documentation usage. The API feeds data into our internal dashboards so we can see trends without logging into another tool.

The dashboard is clean enough that non-technical team members check it without asking for help. That matters more than you would think.

What We've Learned Running It

ClickHouse (Plausible's analytics database) is fast but memory-hungry. Default settings work for small sites, but once you're tracking multiple domains with decent traffic, you need tuned buffer sizes and proper retention policies. We size it for your traffic from the start.

Self-hosted Plausible needs its own subdomain to avoid ad blockers that target the hosted version. We set up a first-party domain so your tracking script loads reliably for all visitors.

What You Get

A self-hosted Plausible instance tracking all your domains. First-party subdomain configured to avoid ad blockers. Custom events set up for your key conversions. Shared dashboards for your team. No cookie banners needed. We handle updates, backups, and ClickHouse tuning.
